Obituary of Yvonne Fisher

 September 27, 1929 December 1, 2020

Yvonne Fisher passed into her eternal rest on December 1, 2020 at the age of 91. Yvonne was born in Tunis on September 27, 1929, and, together with her four brothers and three sisters, struggled to survive the Nazi invasion during WWII.  After the war, Yvonne married an American soldier, Robert MacLean, and emigrated to the United States where she  mastered English and became a proud American citizen. Robert  and Yvonne moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, eventually building a home in Mountain View. Robert went to work as an  engineer at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and Yvonne  set about raising their four children, Bobby, Richard, Brian and  Kathy. Their marriage, however, ended in divorce in 1962 and  Yvonne was faced with the task of raising her four children as a  single mother. She took on this situation with her customary resolve and secured a position as a librarian in the Stanford Physics Department which enabled her to pay the bills. There  she met a Post-doctoral Fellow, Thornton Roberts (Bob) Fisher, in 1963 and they embarked on a storybook romance which led  to marriage on June 22, 1968. Yvonne resigned her position at Stanford and once again devoted her life to her family; Bob  took a position as a research scientist at Lockheed. In 1978, their family grown, Yvonne and Bob built a home in Morgan Hill  where Yvonne opened her own Real Estate Office called Carriage Realty. Yvonne retired from real estate in 1988 but  did not stay idle. She worked together with Bob to build their “dream” home in Los Altos Hills, and became involved in local politics, serving for two years as chairman of the Awards  Committee of Los Altos Hills. When Bob retired in 1994, she  traveled with him to many places including France, Ireland,  Hawaii, Alaska, and Tahiti. Throughout her life, Yvonne’s focus was on her family whom she deeply loved. She will be sorely missed by all.
