Obituary of Melissa Russell
Melissa Miller Russell resident of Cupertino, CA lost her valiant battle with cancer on August 18, 2017. .
Born in Murray, Kentucky on January 27, 1963, Melissa was the third of four children born to Charles I.
and Patricia Miller. Melissa was married to David McQueen Russell V for 20 years.
Melissa spent the majority of her years growing up in Cincinnati Ohio.
She attended Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and Miami University of Oxford, Ohio.
Melissa was especially talented in her retail clothing career, which began in London with Marks and Spencer. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area thirty years ago to work with Nordstrom, originally in San Francisco and then the majority of her years at Nordstrom's Palo Alto store. She loved working for Nordstrom. Her “customer first" work ethic and performance were bright. She was devoted to her Nordstrom clientele and was a kind friend to everyone she met. Melissa was as beautiful inside as outside, who always sought to make herself and everyone around her happy and looking their best.
Melissa was a dedicated and loyal wife to her husband Dave. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining and sharing her culinary talents. Her passion was sharing nature with her husband and sailing with him in the tropics and San Francisco Bay. Together they sailed around beautiful islands spread over four oceans, gathering a World of friends.
She was very grateful for the compassionate team at the Cancer Center at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View throughout her illness as she fought courageously.
She is survived by her husband Dave, mother Patricia Miller, brothers Michael Miller and Matthew Miller of Virginia and her sister Michele of Charleston, South Carolina. Sisters in law Laura (McFarland) Miller and Jacqueline (Duarte) Miller, nieces Kelly (Miller) Deal (Traig Deal) grand niece AnnDee Deal of Texas, and Katy Miller of Virginia, along with 5 aunts, 4 uncles, 17 cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Charles I. Miller.
