Robert Lee "Bob" Griffey

Robert (Bob) Lee Griffey died peacefully Thursday, September 14th, 2017 at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital.

Bob was born in Princeton, Mo., moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1969, and then to California in December of 1972.

The summer after Princeton High School graduation in 1963 Bob enlisted in the Air Force, San Antonio, Texas. Bob wanted to be part of the Air Police, but his grade scores were too high. It was felt that he would better serve as an electronics technician. So off to Blytheville, Ark to tech school he goes. He learned how to read/ understand /repair/ monitor / teach the instrumentation panel on B52 Bombers. The last year of his military service he was sent to Nako Phonon, Thailand with the 606 Air Commando’s stationed in Udorn Thailand. Bob taught four different countries how to read/understand/repair and monitor the instrumentation panels on air planes. Bob received an Honorable Discharge in 1967.

Current and previous Member of the following Chambers of Commerce: Sunnyvale, Mt. View, Santa Clara, Palo Alto, Campbell and San Jose.  Also, a member of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs’ Club and the @ Home Networking Group.

Bob said he was blessed to meet so many great people, to learn about our community, to volunteer with business organizations, and to volunteer with non-profit organizations. He said many times – Volunteers are what make this country so wonderful.

Bob is preceded in death by his son Robert LeRoy, brother Gerold, sister Lenore, brother Tommy Joe, sister Barbara Jean and sister Wanda June.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Griffey and his soul mate Becky Griffey of Sunnyvale. His grandson Brandon LeRoy Griffey of Hollister;  his grandson Robert Lee Shaw of Oregon; brother Jeremy Earl Griffey of Capitola; brother Billie Dale Griffey of Adel, Iowa and ten nieces and nephews.

Private Family interment will follow at a later date.
