Harold Wesley McIntyre passed away on March 13, 2018 at the age of 90, in Palo Alto. He died peacefully at home.
Hal was born in Eugene, Oregon to Dr. Rollin and Mildred McIntyre on April 3, 1927. He attended Eugene High School and graduated from the University of Oregon School of Business in 1952. He served in the US Army on several assignments between 1945-1952.
He met his beloved wife, Helen Louise Sullivan, from New Brunswick, Canada at the San Francisco Presidio in 1950, and were married in 1952. They initially lived in San Francisco and moved to San Carlos in 1954 and Palo Alto in 1967 where they lived for 51 years. Last year they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Hal's career began in San Francisco at California Packing Corporation, as an accountant. He moved to various companies throughout the years, finishing up at Systems Control Technology as the Vice President and CFO, in Palo Alto. After retiring, Hal served on the Board of the YMCA, volunteered to help others with their taxes at Avenidas, and was a Deacon at MPPC. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and the Palo Alto National Association of Accountants.
Hal love to travel to various parts of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Reno, with his favorite spot being Hawaii. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching the SF Giants, Warriors, and 49ers, as well as the Stanford and the University of Oregon football teams.
Hal's family was the most important part of his life. He was a devoted husband to Helen, father to Suzanne (Garry) and Jim (Adriana), grandfather to David, Sarah and Miguel, and uncle and cousin to many.
A memorial service to celebrate Hal's life will be held at 2pm on Monday, April 9th at Menlo Church ( 950 Santa Cruz Ave, Menlo Park ), followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall.
